They are the only “Authorized” Minn Kota Service Center in Pierre.
Established in 1988 by Swenson Bros. Marine, the dealership was purchased by Craig Novak and Bruce Baker in 1995 who changed the name to Pierre Sports Center. Bruce Baker went on to other ventures in 1997. In 2015, Jared Boyer and Mike Ablott became partners with Craig Novak. Craig retired in 2020. Then, Jared and Mike took over ownership in 2021.
Mike says they pride themselves on living up to their motto “Get the service you deserve.”
Pierre works for Pierre Sports because it’s a great place for outdoor activities. “Tourists from all over come to hunt and fish and spend time on the water. We love to tell people that some of our customers use their boat year-round,” says Mike.
About operating a business in Pierre, Mike notes that local businesses provide a big percentage of the donations to local groups and projects. “Local businesses support each other even if in the same industry. Pierre is a city with a small-town feeling.”
